PAPHOS AREA - GENERAL INFORMATION

Paphos consists of 3 main areas:

Kato Paphos - is the main tourist area, centering around the harbour and sea front area.

Town Centre - known as Ktima to the locals, the main attraction here is the pleasant market area.

Coral Bay - The best beaches in the area also offering watersports

Some basic helpful information to assist during your stay in Paphos.

SHOPS:

During the high season shops in the town centre are open from 08:30 – 12:00 and then 16:00 – 19:00. There is a half day closing every Wednesday and Saturday. Shops are also closed all day Sunday. However in the main tourist areas the shops do stay open all day and every day.

MARKET:

The market which is in the town centre is open from 07:00 – 13:00 every day except Sunday.

CHEMISTS:

There are plenty of chemists in Kato Paphos and all around the town centre. They open from 08:30 – 13:00 and 16:00 – 19:00 Monday to Saturday. Should you require a chemist during closing hours during the day or night there is a written information sheet on each and every chemist door to let you know where the 24 hour chemist will be open on each individual day.

BANKS:

These are open 08:30 – 12:30 from Monday to Friday with some providing additional tourist service for an hour in the afternoon. Check for any opening hours on the door of each individual bank.

SOME LOCAL PLACES OF INTEREST

Coral Bay is the place for sun worshippers with many sunbeds, umbrellas, beach bar, showers, watersports and a daily, regular local bus route to and from Kato Paphos and Paphos town. There is a charge for sunbeds and umbrellas.

The Tombs of the Kings which is situated on the main sea front road of Tombs of the Kings., The House of Dionysos which is a fabulous example of ancient mosaics. St. Pauls of the Pillar Church , The Catacombs, the Ancient working Ampitheatre, the Medieval Fortress in the attractive harbour area and there is also the small Aquarium and the newly built Aphrodite Waterpark. Some of these places do have an entrance fee.
